How to Find a Domain Name for Your WordPress Website

WordPress is one of the fastest growing platforms that is being used to create websites. In fact, MangoOrange.com is the developer of one of the web's most popular free WordPress themes.  WordPress is very powerful and a great tool for anyone looking to create a web presence.

WordPress eliminates the need of paying someone thousands of dollars to build a website.  You can now easily create a web page as long as you have web hosting and a domain name.

The great part of all of this is the fact web hosting and domain names can be purchased so cheap if you choose the right web hosting provider.  My job today will be to point you in the right direction in your search for a domain name for you WordPress website.    The process is very easy; however, I thought I would write a quick how-to-guide explaining how to setup a WordPress website.

Finding A Domain For A WordPress Website:

Option 1:

You can use a domain availability tool to search for a domain name that is free and register the name using Bluehost. The great part about Bluehost is the fact that they make it easy to install WordPress.  In fact, in the Bluehost CPANEL there is an option that allows you to easily install WordPress on your account as soon as you register for a domain name and hosting.   This is BY FAR the easiest way to get a domain name for your WordPress website.

Option 2:

Being that you will need web hosting along with a domain name I would highly suggest that you find a web hosting provider that will give you a free domain name with the purchase of hosting.  So for only $3.95 a month you can host your WordPress site and get a free domain.  Most hosts listed on AlreadyHosting.com will give you free WordPress installation.

It appears that many people (including myself) are encountering the following error message after updating to the latest wordpress 2.8.x version: “Call to undefined method Redirection::_weak_escape() in /home/username/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 487″ .

Even though this may be an agrivation there is an easy fix to the problem and you will NOT lose your website files..  To solve the issue follow these simple steps:

• Log into your host manager account or take help of your FTP.
• Go to wp-content/plugin folder of your WordPress installation.
• Locate redirection folder and rename it to something like redirection2
• You should be able to login now into your admin panel of WordPress.
• Go to plugin page and upgrade redirection plugin

** I hope this fix helps you, feel free to add any additional information that you think may be helpful to others.

It's been more than a year since I started i3Theme. I have always receive many requests on improving the theme. I have not implemented everything yet, but I have observed, that a lot of people have the same requirements, or expectations of a WordPress theme.

So, I thought it will be good to list down and share with the rest.

1. Ability to change header and background image
2. Separate Pings and Comments
3. Comments are paged and with gravatars
4. Widgets, Tags, Blockquotes, RSS and Code highlighter ready
5. More colour options (if possible)
6. Ability to add Adsense easily
7. Have a few layouts like 2 columns, 3 columns and Fluid-layout

i3Theme has been and will continue to be a great success, with over 40,000 downloads to date. It's been a wonderful time for me to build and maintain the theme.

Today, on the April 1st, 2008, I would like to release the next big theme, i2Theme. It's not an April Fool joke. It's a real thing. If you don't believe, you can check it out here.

So why do I need to come out with i2Theme when original iTheme is made available by Nick La? Two reasons; Firstly, a request made by some of you, which makes me to ponder for a while. I did a check on the iTheme by Nick La that leads me to the second reason, no further development since version 1.1.

Thus, I spent a few nights transferring all the features I developed for i3Theme and put together a new theme, i2Theme. I believe it's going to benefit everyone who loves the mac-like design and prefer a 2 columns instead of 3 columns WordPress theme, i3Theme.

It's been quite a while since I updated MangoOrange and I decided to do some internal upgrades on the WordPress as well as the plugins. In the midst of it, I found an awesome plugin, the one that I've been looking for, WordPress Paged Comments.

For a few months, my i3Theme page has always been loaded with 100 over comments. To date, I have 250+ comments. It's frustrating to wait for it to load if the connection is slow. So, I hope it's better for everyone after I've upgraded it. Feel free to pop over to check out the latest update on the i3Theme as well.

This is definitely an additions to my plug-ins list.
