Website Hosting

Today I would like to teach you how to easily create your first website using WordPress and WordPress themes.   Prior to the development individuals looking to create a presence online were forced to either learn how to build and design websites, or they were required to pay a large sum of money to create the site.   This is no longer true.

WordPress is a free application that allows uers to develop blogs, personal websites, or business websites.  In fact, this very site (MangoOrange.com) is powered by WordPress and our very own i3theme.    Today I would like to teach you the very simple steps needed to easily create your first website with wordpress themes.

How To Create Your First Website

1.  The only thing that you will need to purchase is web hosting (your space on they internet).   This will cost around $50 for an entire years worth of hosting, so it is very affordable.   In my opinion the best web hosting provider is HostMonster, so before we get started please take a second and register for web hosting at HostMonster.   Please watch this guide to signing up with HostMonster if you need help.

2. Log into your newly created web hosting account.  Once you are logged in you can scroll down until you see a button that says SimpleScripts. Simple click this button and use Simplescripts to easy install WordPress, for free, on your web hosting server.

3.  Once you have done this you will receive an email with details how to log into your newly created wordpress website.   Simple follow those instructions to log into your account.

4.  Next, you will want to scan the web for free wordpress themes to find a theme that fits your needs.  We offer a very popular free wordpress theme if you would like to use it.   Once you find a theme, download the .ZIP file to your computer's desktop.

5.  Now from your wordpress account you can upload the free wordpress theme and customize your page with any text that you would like to appear.   With wordpress, creating your first website is as easy as typing on Microsoft Word.

i2theme-missing-iconThere has been a slight error that I've made while migrating i3Theme into i2Theme. Sorry for missing it out.

It only concerned those who are using the i2Theme (Right edition). The error concerned will caused the bullet icon on each right sideboxes to disappear.

To fix it, just replace it with the file: dbx-key.js

(image taken from here and has no link to the article, just use for setting Christmas mood)

As Christmas coming, it would be a great gift to present to all the i3Theme fans and here it is: the i3Theme 1.5. Nothing major has changed except that I have fixed quite a few bugs and guess what? It's now compatible with version before WordPress 2.3. I hope this is a great feature for the non-english WordPress as I believe they are a little behind the english version.

Not only that, I have finally fixed the major problem in IE6 where widgets or images that larger than the sidebar width will pushes the rest of the boxes or main content down. Hope everyone will have little problems with this new release.

Below's a list of changes made:

  • SEO-friendly header title
  • Enable hierarchical structure for category's sidebar (for Widgets, use the 'Categories' widget)
  • Bug Fixed: (Only in IE6) Information overflow in the sidebar destroy the layout
  • Bug Fixed: Next/Previous link display the same [special thanks to Jamie]
  • Bug Fixed: Category icons missing when using Widgets' categories
  • Bug Fixed: Unable to work in WordPress 2.2 or lower [special thanks to mat]

Lastly, I would like to announce that i3Theme has 19,648 downloads since the first release of i3Theme. I hope by Christmas, it will hit the 20,000 mark.

Till then, Merry Christmas to everyone!

Within 2 months, i3Theme has jump from 9,500 downloads to over 15,000 downloads. It shocked me as well, but I'm very glad that everyone loves it. Such continual support has enable me to keep working harder to improve the i3Theme.

Here it is, the next release of the i3Theme, version 1.4. I'm sorry that it took quite a while for me to come out with this release as I was busy finishing up my project assignments as well as preparing for my upcoming final exam.

So, you might be asking, what's new and what's fix...

  1. Availability of author credential of each post
Now you will be able to see whose the author of the post. Thanks to Ken's request and donation. :)
  2. Improved blog header title with better navigation information
  3. Able to handle multiple rows of the sub-navigation page (click below to enlarge)
    i3Theme 1.4 Sub-Nav - Small
  4. Able to handle 2 times (over 2000px in height) the current maximum number of items in the box
  5. BUG FIXED: Wrong function name used, bloginfo() instead of get_bloginfo() [original iTheme code]

I hope you guys like it and continue to give me the support by downloading the latest i3Theme. More things coming up in December 2007. Keep a look out.

Lastly, kudos to i3Theme users.
