Readers ---

Over the past months we have all had our eyes glued on the developments of Google Caffeine!  Since Google announced that Caffeine would be released we have had tons of unconfirmed reports that Google Caffeine is Live.  To this day there has been little evidence that caffeine is life; however, this has all changed.

MangoOrange.com and our web hosting partner, AlreadyHosting.com can confirm that there has been a MAJOR serp shakeup on Google ( as of December 28th ).  We also noticed that the load time of results on Google.com are drastically faster which is a sure sign the Google Caffeine has been launched officially!

We wish everyone the best of luck with this change and hope you enjoy this new faster Google!

If you follow Google, you have likely been reading up on Google Caffeine.  Google is obviously the strongest search engine on the web and they are always working to improve.   With that being said I am anxious to see how our traffic looks after the Google Caffeine update takes place.  From what I see on the beta Caffeine results, most of my sites will move up in the rankings.

It is inevidable that Google Caffeine will mix up the Google Search results, lets just hope that it benefits us all :) .. If you would like to learn more about this update, you can do so on Matt Cutt's personal blog.

Google Pages also known as Google web hosting is no longer taking any more sign-ups according to the official Google Pages web site.   Don't Panic... There are actually many great alternatives to Google web hosting.

**Why would web hosting through Google be a bad thing?**

I will be the first to admin that Google rocks and pretty much dominates the entire web when it comes to FREE services; however, FREE is not always good when it comes to hosting.  When you are looking for a web host for you business, corporation, church, blog, or personal site you should ALWAYS look for a host that will give you a free personalized domain name.  With the old Google web hosting platform you couldn't receive a customized domain name and you were limited to how much disk space and bandwidth you could have.

If you goal is to truly run a professional business you need to consider other alternatives to Google web hosting.  For under $4 a month you can choose a company that specilizes and excels in web hosting.  The professional web hosts listed below not only will give you a free domain name but they also will give you unlimited server resources (not offered by Google web hosting).

So as I mentioned, its true that Google rocks but (at this time) you are still smart going with an independant web hosting provider if you are looking to get your website online fast.    I would suggest any of the following web hosts:

HostMonster - $3.95/month
BlueHost - $3.95/month
GreenGeeks - $6.95/month

As a recent conference Matt Cutts presented a PowerPoint and I found one slide that was very interesting.. It was an example of the Google PageRank Algorithm.. I decided to publish this slide for all of you who are wondering what is page rank.  If you can figure it out from this slide let me know because I still am trying to figure this formula out haha.. Are there any math geniuses out there?

Whats PageRank?

Definition 1:   Let E(u) be some vector over the Web pages that corresponds to a source of rank.  Then, the Pagerank of a set of Web pages is an assignment, R', to the Web pages which satisfies:

What Is Pagerank

This information can be found on Matt Cutts' Personal Blog.

There are quite a few premium web directories out there and before submitting to them it is always nice to do a little research. One of my personal favorites is the VMOptions.com Web Directory. While doing some research on this directory, I came across something interesting, which I will get to a little later.

Unlike most web directories, VMOptions has a unique feature which separates it from other directories. They permit a unique description on the link detail pages. One would expect this to be costly, especially with the popularity of VMOptions, but there are no additional fees when using this feature. Such features should be more common then they are, especially with Google cracking down on duplicate content.

Many believe Google Sitelinks are an indication of authority, and to some degree this is accurate. But what I found interesting when re-validating VMOptions’ status, is that they actually have two different types of Google Sitelinks which appear for different search terms. Below you will find what appears to be three horizontal Google Sitelinks.

1

Oddly enough, a completely different set of Google Sitelinks appears while using a different search term. This group of Sitelinks now contains four distinct URLs.

In all, the VMOptions web directory had Google Sitelinks for three of my search queries. While this is still a solid and top performing web directory, the real gem was discovering how Google now appears to be customizing which Sitelinks are displayed for distinct search queries.
