Yesterday on October 27, 2009, Yahoo Closed Geocities.  For years GeoCities.com has provided free web hosting to millions of users and yesterday these users found themselves without a place to host their personal and business web sites.   Since Geocities closed up we thought we would write a short post that offers some great web hosting alternatives for the previous users of the free hosting service.

It is true that search engines like Google have dominated the website search world over the past few years; however Google is not the only type of search engine to evolve as a successful engine.  There are now literally search engines for everything, for example: images, movies, and files.  I did a little research this morning and found a couple file search engines that seem to stick out above all others.  We thought we could share these sites with you in case you have been searching the web for a specific file.

We have found several interesting net resources which help us to get the desired files/programs. Among the great variety of Rapidshare search engines providing direct links to files, KvAz.com has the most simple and suitable interface and friendly navigation. Folk, WordPress has released an update for their Content Management System.  The new update is WordPress 2.8.5 which includes the following changes:

• A fix for the Trackback Denial-of-Service attack that is currently being seen.
• Removal of areas within the code where php code in variables was evaluated.
• Switched the file upload functionality to be whitelisted for all users including Admins.
• Retiring of the two importers of Tag data from old plugins.

Please make sure you update your WordPress blog to the latest version of WordPress for security reasons.  Also, I want to let everyone know that our i3theme and i2theme wordpress themes still work perfectly with the latest release (no need to worry).

There are a few great sites that will help you install wordpress, one site is AlreadyHosting.com, another great tool is SimpleScripts.com.  WordPress is working on WordPress 2.9.0, I suspect that it will be released in a few months.
