The INSTALL file that comes with the FAAC and FAAD has a little problem. I was trying to install both encoder and decoder for the MPEG-4 files and I met the problem of not able to run ./bootstrap. After searching around, I finally found that we need to type “sh ./bootstrap” instead. Simple. ;)

Note: I’m using Terminal on Mac OS X Leopard.

I’d love to hear what your results are with FAAC. Better quality encodings? Faster encoding? Less of a cpu hit?

I have just started using FAAC and I haven’t found anything comparable yet. So far, it’s been pretty fast. Quality wise, I can’t comment it till I done more work on it. How about you?
