Game for BusinessI'm featured in the Business Times. What an interesting day for me. I love the way the reporter wrote about my company, my team and I. Yup, Southeast Asian Bill Gates. That's what they wrote about me.

I've always wonder how do people like Bill Gates, Sergey Brin, Steve Jobs build their empire. Mathematically, it is impossible to earn that much of money given a constant high paying job throughout one person's entire lifetime. Finally, when I entered National University of Singapore, I get to learn about entrepreneurship from their courses, cca and peers. It's been an interesting path I took in my life. I made a lot of sacrifices to satisfy my hunger.

I would say, it's worth the time and effort. I'm on my way to my dreams now. Starting my own business, doing what I'm passionate about, sharing my experiences, facing new challenges everyday and working with a fun group of people towards a common goal. All these are priceless. :)

Just an advice, if you are sick and tired of your 9am to 5pm job, it's time to take a peek at starting your own business. No words can described the experience and the satisfaction you'll get out of it.

I've often met situation where my friends complained to me that the Microsoft Office 2007 automatically "upgraded" their Microsoft Office 2003 without seeking their permission. It's not a bad thing to have something new and nice to play with. Afterall Microsoft Office 2003 has been around for "ages", it's boring to keep looking at it. I personally preferred something new and fresh. As for some, they preferred things that "just work".

Microsoft Office 2007

Anyway, the biggest reason why people wanted to continue to stick to their Microsoft Office 2003 is because of the recent makeover of the Office File Format. They called it, OpenXML. If you happen to be using the new Office, all the Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint files ends with an extra "x" to their extension, i.e. (*.docx, *.xlsx, *.pptx). So it's frustrating that you have to always remembered to Save As (*.doc, *.xls, *.ppt) because the rest of the world aren't using Office 2007 yet.

First-ever National Youth Entrepreneurship ConferenceCongratulation to the Exoro Team for organising the first-ever National Youth Entrepreneurship Conference in Singapore! It's been my pleasure working with my teammates, Alvin, Wu Di, Jinyang, Zhang Dan, Hirman and Nat for putting up this wonderful conference for a good cause of promoting entrepreneurship among the youth.

Recently, the Singapore Government have been heavily promoting entrepreneurship by setting up Student Clubs and Societies in various educational institutions. In addition, almost every Government Ministry has set aside funds for startups to grab. We are currently in a situation that, "Too much money around, but too little good ideas to invest in".

Why the Singapore Government is becoming a "VC" themselves? Continue reading »

VirtualBoxThis is the first time, I did something "significantly" useful with Linux, blogging. I had many past experience installing Ubuntu and many times I find myself either lost with all the UNIX/Linux commands or there are nothing much I can do as most of my files are on Windows XP.

Now I'm happy to say that, I'm starting to love Ubuntu, especially their font rendering engine. Have to agree with my friend - the font rendering in Ubuntu is much better.

So, the reason why I went back to Ubuntu again, is because I found the right virtual machine software, VirtualBox, that overcome all the limitations I face previously with VirtualPC and VMWare.

The 5 main reasons why you should use VirtualBox: Continue reading »
